I got sober on January 1, 2020
And it was the best thing I ever did!
New Years Eve 2019 I crawled into bed at 9 PM feeling sick and bloated. My anxiety was at an all-time high (which is really unlike me! I'm generally pretty chill by nature) and I had this sense of impending doom. I know it sounds dramatic but it's true... and if I'm going to be completely honest, the doom had been building for quite some time.
I needed to stop drinking.
I've had a very long and unhealthy relationship with alcohol most of my life and the majority of 2019 saw it getting pretty out of control. By the final day of that year I knew down to my very core that I needed to stop drinking or my life was going to get very very dark.
So I did it. I got sober.
It wasn't easy, especially in the beginning, but I can tell you now with over 1 year of sobriety under my belt - it was 100% worth it!
How did I do it?
I threw myself into yoga. Not just the physical practice, but all the principles of yoga. I studied the Yamas and Niyamas, the Koshas, and Chakras. I dove deep into the subtle, energetic body. I practiced pranayama and meditation and I learned how to use all this yogic knowledge to overcome my addiction to alcohol. With all this new insight and wisdom... I came back to my center.
I want to help you come back to your center too.
These last several months I have been designing a series of online courses that mirror the practices I incorporated to regain my sobriety.
Do you want to begin a yoga practice that can help you to stop drinking so much? I got you.
Not sure what Yamas and Niyamas are or how they apply to sobriety? I got you.
Want to learn about chakras and how they affect your relationship with alcohol? I got you.
Do you want to lose weight, get clearer skin, build healthier relationships and have more money in the bank? I got you.
These courses will take you from the densest, most physical aspect of the body to the subtlest layers underneath which will give you clearer insight into the why's and how's an unhealthy relationship with alcohol is formed and give you the tools to overcome it.
Each course will include:
Written content to study and absorb
Self-inquiry prompts for journaling
Videos for yoga, meditation and pranayama practice as they pertain to each subject
Invitation to join The Center of Sobriety's private Facebook group where we will continue to practice, learn and share our sobriety journey together
I hope you will be a part of this new community. I believe you can achieve anything you put your mind to.... I'm living proof that!
